"War of the Worlds" star pays Grover's Mill Coffee Company a visit.

On Halloween we were treated to a visit by Hollywood actress, Ann Robinson, star of the 1953 smash hit movie, "War of the Worlds". Ann and her husband discovered the Grover's Mill Coffee Company online. We arranged for Ann and her wonderful family to meet several members of our community and arranged for a private tour of historic Grover's Mill. Ms. Robinson has always wanted to see where the "Martians landed" in 1938 and was thrilled by the rustic charm of the area. Of course her visit would not have been complete without a personal bag of our favorite "Martian Mocha Java"!

Ever vivacious, Ann was genuinely excited to meet us in Grover's Mill and tour the area. To show our appreciation and affection, Grover's Mill Coffee presented Ann with our "Big Broo" gift basket filled with gourmet coffee, tea and other goodies. We spent the next 2 hours with Ann's family and together retraced some of the footsteps of broadcast legend and history - now a part of American folklore.

On a perfect Autumn Day, Ann discovered the bas relief sculpture in Van Nest Park along Grover's Pond, where "Martians" were thought to have landed on October 30,1938. Ann was visibly moved to be with us visiting Grover's Mill. We were so thankful to meet Ann and her family, and extended an invitation that they return in October of 2008 for our 70 year celebration of the 1938 broadcast event which changed the way we look at media influence as well as life outside of our tiny planet. The Grover's MIll Coffee Company would like to thank Ann Robinson and her family for adding to the fabric of our company and the history and culture of our wonderful community.
